Iqbal’s 148th Birth Anniversary Being Celebrated Today

LAHORE: The nation is commemorating the 148th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Poet of the East and a visionary philosopher.

The day started with a ceremonial changing of the guard at Iqbal’s mausoleum, and events across the country will pay tribute to his enduring legacy. Every year, November 9 is observed as Iqbal Day in honor of his contributions to literature, philosophy, and the cause of Muslim self-determination.

Iqbal’s poetry and philosophy emphasized self-respect, spiritual awakening, and national identity, encouraging generations to rise against oppression and strive for freedom. His thoughts ignited the vision of a separate homeland and inspired a path toward building a just and progressive society.

Born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, Allama Iqbal passed away on April 21, 1938, in Lahore, leaving behind a legacy that continues to guide and inspire millions in Pakistan and beyond.
