TEHRAN: Iran has confirmed that the United States has deported 55 Iranian citizens following their detention.
According to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the deported individuals are expected to return to Iran within the next few days.
Iranian officials noted that this marks the second group of Iranians removed under U.S. President Donald Trump’s expanded immigration enforcement measures.
Earlier, 120 Iranian nationals had been deported from the United States and traveled home via Doha. In September, American authorities also identified nearly 400 additional Iranians who were expected to face possible deportation.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei also criticized the United States for refusing to issue visas to members of Iran’s national football delegation, who were scheduled to participate in the draw ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
