TEHRAN: Iran has firmly stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened unless compensation for damages caused by US and Israeli airstrikes is provided.
According to officials from the Iranian President’s Office, the statement comes in response to recent threats issued by US President Donald Trump regarding the closure of the strategic waterway.
Iranian authorities said Trump had warned of possible strikes on civilian infrastructure, including power facilities and bridges.
In a strongly worded response, Iranian officials criticized Trump’s remarks, calling them “irresponsible” and accusing him of using offensive language against the Iranian people. They further claimed that Iran’s resistance has intensified pressure on the US leadership.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route, remains at the center of rising geopolitical tensions, with its continued closure posing serious risks to international energy supplies.
