ISLAMABAD: Iran has rejected the United States’ proposals for a ceasefire and announced that it will continue its defense operations.
According to Press TV, Iran responded to the proposals sent via Pakistan, stating:
“Iran will continue to defend itself. Military operations will continue until our conditions are fully met.”
Iran has outlined several key conditions for ending hostilities. These include ending attacks and targeted killings of leaders, assurance of no future wars, compensation for damages and reparations, complete cessation of ongoing conflicts in Lebanon and Palestine, and a guarantee of Iran’s sovereign control over the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. had presented proposals to Iran, including a one-month ceasefire at the start of negotiations, suspension of Iran’s nuclear program, limiting Iran’s missile program, and opening the Strait of Hormuz.
After weeks of mediation efforts by Pakistan and Turkey, the U.S. expressed readiness to negotiate with Iran, with talks potentially hosted in Islamabad.
Iranian officials criticized U.S. diplomacy, stating that previous negotiations were attacked during discussions and that the proposals were inappropriate. Iran emphasized that its military actions will continue until its conditions are met, especially regarding sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
