TEHRAN: The United States and Israel carried out another attack on its nuclear facilities in Natanz on Saturday, according to Iranian state media and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).
The strike targeted the Shahid Ahmadi-Roshan uranium enrichment complex, which is part of the country’s main nuclear infrastructure.
Israeli military officials, however, denied any knowledge of such an operation and told local media they were not aware of a strike on the Natanz facility.
Iranian authorities stated that no radioactive leakage occurred as a result of the incident and that there were no casualties. Officials added that nearby residents were not in danger.
The AEOI condemned the reported attack as a violation of international law and called on the International Atomic Energy Agency and the broader international community to respond.
Natanz has been targeted in previous incidents amid ongoing tensions in the region. Iranian officials noted that the facility had been attacked during a recent conflict with Israel and had also been struck in earlier U.S. operations involving bunker-buster bombs.
Some reports suggest that highly enriched uranium is stored at the site, raising international concern about potential escalation.
Russia also reacted to the reported incident, describing it as a violation of international law and urging a strong response from the global community. Russian officials have previously expressed concern due to the presence of Russian experts working in Iran’s nuclear sector.
