WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has made another statement concerning Iran’s nuclear program and the Abraham Accords.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran’s nuclear capabilities have been “completely destroyed.”
He stressed that it is crucial for all Middle Eastern countries to join the Abraham Accords, adding that wider participation would ensure lasting peace in the region.
The Abraham Accords are a series of normalization agreements between Israel and Arab countries, introduced during Trump’s previous term in office. In 2020, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain became the first to join the accords, followed by Morocco and Sudan, who also signed normalization deals with Israel.
Trump has repeatedly touted the Abraham Accords as a major foreign policy achievement of his presidency, crediting them with reducing tensions in the Middle East and isolating Iran diplomatically. His recent statement appears aimed at reviving interest in the accords amid growing instability in the region.
Analysts, however, remain divided on the long-term impact of the agreements. While some view the accords as a step toward regional cooperation, others argue that they sidestep the core issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and risk further polarizing the Middle East.
