Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul Freight Train Service Postponed

ISLAMABAD: The freight train service connecting Islamabad, Tehran, and Istanbul, scheduled to commence on Wednesday, has been postponed due to the absence of security clearance, railway officials confirmed.

According to Pakistan Railways, the department had announced the launch of the international freight service starting December 31. However, just a day before its departure, the service was deferred after the required security approvals were not granted.

As per the planned route, the train was to depart from Islamabad, travel via Sibi, and reach Speezand Junction. From there, it was to proceed through Noshki and Dalbandin, before crossing into Iran at Mirjawa.

Railway officials in the Quetta Division stated that all operational preparations for the train’s arrival and transit had been completed. Despite this, the launch was halted at the last moment due to security-related concerns.

No new date has been announced so far for the commencement of the freight train service, which is considered an important step toward enhancing regional trade connectivity between Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey.
