HOUSTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Ismaili Center in Houston, a landmark project that blends Islamic and contemporary architectural design.
Spread across 11 acres and covering 150,000 square feet, the center has been described by international media as a majestic cultural and religious complex. It will be officially opened to the public next month.
Ambassador Sheikh was specially invited to the inauguration ceremony, accompanied by Pakistan’s Consul General in Houston, Aftab Ahmed Khan.
During the event, the ambassador met with Prince Rahim Aga Khan. In a tweet following the meeting, Ambassador Sheikh said it was an “honor to meet and converse with Prince Rahim Aga Khan.”
He praised the vision behind the center, noting that under the patronage of Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the new facility would serve as a hub for community service and interfaith harmony, fulfilling the vision of the late Prince Karim Aga Khan.
Paying tribute to the late spiritual leader, the ambassador described his contributions to humanity as a symbol of foresight and compassion, adding that it was inspiring to see Aga Khan V (Prince Rahim) following in his father’s noble footsteps.
