ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said that the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza by Israel and the rampant violations of human rights in occupied Kashmir by India were a serious threat to international peace.
In his message on the International Day of Peace, the president said that the world was facing geographical, territorial and political tensions and disputes in different countries.
The president said that Israel was killing innocent people in Gaza and has continued its war since October last year in which over 41,000 people have been killed, the whole population of Gaza displaced. Israeli forces have even not spared hospitals and refugee camps.
Similarly, he added, India is openly violating the human rights in occupied Kashmir and is denying the basic rights of the Muslim population of India. Despite United Nations Security Council resolutions passed over decades back, the Indian government has denied the right of self-determination to the people of occupied Kashmir, he added.
President Zardari said the killing of innocent people and denying of their basic rights by Israel and India are a serious threat to the world peace.
He said that the international community especially the United Nations should take notice of the killings and human eights violations in Kashmir and Palestine and force Israel and India to stop the atrocities in their occupied areas.
