MOSCOW: The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and Russia’s Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the Primakov Readings 2025, an international forum bringing together leading policymakers, diplomats, and scholars.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General ISSI, and Dr. Feodor Voitolovsky, Director of IMEMO, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. The agreement establishes a framework for long-term collaboration, including joint research projects, policy dialogue, academic exchanges, co-publications, and participation in seminars and conferences on regional and global strategic issues.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood emphasized the importance of deepening academic and intellectual engagement between Pakistan and Russia, especially amid significant shifts in the global order. He described the MoU as a foundation for sustained cooperation and knowledge-sharing.
Dr. Feodor Voitolovsky welcomed the partnership and reaffirmed IMEMO’s commitment to expanding research collaboration with ISSI across a broad range of topics.
The ISSI–IMEMO partnership is seen as an important step in building stronger scholarly linkages between Pakistan and Russia and is expected to enhance bilateral understanding, promote regional dialogue, and reinforce the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Russia relations in recent years.
