Adiala jail authorities express inability to produce PTI founder in Islamabad court due to security threats.

ISLAMABAD: A court in Islamabad on Monday ordered jail trial of former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in a case filed against them for allegedly contracting their marriage violating Islamic law.

When the case was taken up by civil judge Qudrat Ullah, the counsel for the couple Usman Gul appeared and said Bushra was ill and in Lahore and Imran Khan is in Adiala jail.

He sought time for Bushra Bibi to appear in court. The judge said if she was ill, a medical report should be submitted. The lawyer sought adjournment for a longer period saying it was not possible for her client to come from Lahore.

The judge remarked that if it was not possible she could rent a house in Islamabad.

About Imran Khan, the Adiala jail authorities expressed their inability to produce him in court due to security threats.

The court then ordered that the trial of Imran Khan and his wife would be conducted in the Adiala jail.

Imran Khan is in jail in the cipher case but the trial of other cases including the 190 million Al-Qadir Trust corruption case is being conducted in the jail.
