LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced a nationwide protest movement under the “Badal Do Nizam” (Change the System) campaign.
Addressing a massive gathering at the party’s three-day Ijtima-e-Aam at Minar-e-Pakistan, he revealed that JI will hold protest rallies and sit-ins in 25 major cities over the next three months to push for structural reforms in governance.
Hafiz Naeem said the campaign aims to challenge a small group of influential figures who, according to him, manipulate the system and amend the Constitution for personal gain. He vowed to fight for constitutional supremacy, judicial reform, and greater accountability.
He added that JI seeks to free the state from elite control and emphasised, “We want the system of Allah, not the rule of any field marshal.” He confirmed that JI will not ally with any political party.
He called for lifting the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and demanded the release of former prime minister Imran Khan. Hafiz Naeem urged that future elections be conducted through proportional representation and that “electoral fraud” must end.
He also demanded constitutional protection and full authority for local governments, announcing a movement against the “defective” local government act in Punjab.
Regarding Karachi, he said development work has begun in nine towns despite JI being denied the mayor’s office. He stressed that JI will oppose injustice but will not promote ethnic nationalism, adding that Pakistan belongs to all communities and requires a fair and inclusive system.
On foreign policy, Hafiz Naeem called for dialogue with Afghanistan while urging Kabul to ensure its territory is not used for terrorism. He demanded an independent foreign policy and criticised Pakistan’s past alignment with the United States.
Rejecting the two-state solution for Palestine, he warned that any move toward the Abraham Accords would trigger massive public resistance.
