JI Announces Protests Against Israeli Attack On Sumud Flotilla

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI) has announced a series of nationwide protests in response to the Israeli attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla.

Speaking at a press conference, JI chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman condemned the assault, describing it as an act of aggression against a peaceful humanitarian mission.

He said the flotilla included five Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, among them former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, along with international human rights activists, Nelson Mandela’s grandson, a member of the European Parliament, and journalists.

Hafiz Naeem outlined the protest schedule, announcing countrywide demonstrations on October 3, a mass march on October 4, and large-scale rallies against Israel on October 7.

“The Palestinian issue is both a matter of faith and humanity for us,” he said, adding that Israel has been obstructing aid deliveries to Gaza, where countless children have been killed. He accused the United States of granting Israel a “license for genocide” through its unconditional support.

The JI chief also rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed Gaza peace plan, calling it “a scheme for further bloodshed” that prioritizes Israel’s security while completely sidelining Palestine. He warned that accepting such a plan would undermine Pakistan’s position on Kashmir.

Hafiz Naeem further noted that Hamas leadership has expressed willingness for a ceasefire, but insisted that lasting peace cannot be achieved without justice for Palestinians.
