KARACHI: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeemur Rehman addressed a large crowd in Karachi, condemning Pakistan’s political and economic system as one that increasingly benefits a small, powerful elite at the expense of the nation’s 250 million citizens.

He pointed out the growing concentration of power among a cartel of feudal lords, landlords, and capitalists, accusing them of controlling the country’s resources and political system for their personal gain.

Rehman didn’t mince words as he criticized the so-called democratic leaders, stating that they were undermining democracy both in their parties and in the nation. “These leaders claim to uphold democracy, yet they have failed to establish democratic practices in their own political parties. Instead, they continue to maintain power by perpetuating an unjust system,” he said.

He emphasized that dismantling the current system would require a long-term and determined struggle. “This system is deeply entrenched in corruption, mismanagement, and exploitation. It will take a sustained effort to overcome it,” he added.

In his speech, Rehman accused the ruling elite of treating Pakistan’s resources as commodities to be bought and sold, with no regard for the welfare of the common people. He said, “The people of Pakistan have become mere pawns in the hands of a few powerful individuals who have no interest in improving the lives of the public. This system needs to be changed, and it is up to all of us to make it happen.”
