PESHAWAR: Jamaat Islami Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rahman has said that if the government failed to give relief to the masses in its promised 45 days, he would not stop his party workers and supporters from reaching D Chowk in Islamabad again.
He was speaking to participants of a gathering held in Peshawar against rising inflation and inflated power bills. The Jamaat Islami party ended its 14-day long protest held at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi last week without any result.
Mr Rahman at that time claimed that his party had signed an agreement under which a task force had been formed which will file its report to the government in one and half month to provide relief to the people.
Before the Rawalpindi protest, the Jamaat Islami had announced to gather its workers at D Chowk near parliament house in Islamabad. However, when they marched to Islamabad and tried to move to D Chowk the government took action and arrested some of the protesters and workers and forced the party to move to Rawalpindi.
The jamaat Islami chief at Peshawar said that they were monitoring the government to fullfil its promise to provide relief to the people in one and half month and now the government has 41 days left and if it fails to make any progress he wouldn’t be able to stop his workers and supporters from marching to the Chowk Islamabad again.
