Judicial remand of Imran, Qureshi extended for 14 more days

FIA directed by special court judge to submit challan of the cipher case soon.

ISLAMABAD: A special court established to hear cases under Official Secret Act a few months ago on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the missing cipher case. 

Special Court Judge Abul Hasnat extended the judicial reman till October 10th while hearing the case registered against the two in the district jail of Attock where Imran is held since August 5th.

During the hearing of the case in the jail, senior lawyers defending the former prime minister were present. 

The special court judge also directed officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit a challan in the case soon and adjourned the hearing.The hearing of the case was conducted in-camera in the jail.

On Sept 25th, the law ministry had given permission for holding the hearing in the jail.

It may be noted that the chief justice of Islamabad Higher Court has ordered shifting of the PTI chief from Attock to the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi but so far no steps have been taken to implement the order.
