Karachi Transport Strike Enters Third Day, Commuters Face Hardship

KARACHI: The transport strike in Karachi entered its third consecutive day on Saturday leaving commuters struggling as public transport services remained suspended across the city.

According to reports, the ongoing strike by the Karachi Transport Ittehad against e-challan enforcement and heavy fines has brought daily life to a standstill. Despite the passage of three days, no significant steps have been taken by the Sindh government to resolve the issue or end the protest.

Citizens, particularly low-income workers, faced severe difficulties reaching workplaces, hospitals, and other essential destinations. Many were forced to travel on foot due to the lack of available transport.

The suspension of public transport also increased pressure on online ride-hailing services, leading to a rise in fares. Rickshaw services and private vehicles reportedly benefited from the situation as commuters struggled to find affordable alternatives.

Meanwhile, no formal negotiations or government intervention have been reported so far to resolve the standoff, prolonging inconvenience for thousands of daily passengers across the city.
