MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Sunday lauded the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, philanthropists and other key contributors for their invaluable support in establishing advanced cancer treatment facilities.
He stated this while inaugurating the Kashmir Institute of Nuclear Medicine, Oncology, and Radiology (KINOR) in Muzaffarabad. Alongside this groundbreaking medical center, the Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq Shaheed Medical College has also been launched, aimed at significantly enhancing healthcare services for the residents of Azad Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony, the prime minister emphasized the importance of KINOR in providing cutting-edge cancer care to the people of Azad Kashmir. He noted that this modern facility would eliminate the need for patients from remote areas to travel to cities like Islamabad for life-threatening disease treatment, thus ensuring more accessible healthcare within the region.
He extended his appreciation to the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, philanthropists, and other contributors for their collective efforts in making these healthcare advancements a reality.
He toured various departments within KINOR, receiving a detailed briefing on the operations of the facility. He expressed his satisfaction with the installation of modern medical equipment, including MRI and mammography machines.
The prime minister said that the latest versions of these technologies would not only provide immediate relief to patients but also contribute to the ongoing development of high-quality healthcare in the region.
KINOR stands as the first state-of-the-art institution in Azad Kashmir dedicated specifically to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The facility is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare standards, particularly in oncology, for the people of Azad Kashmir and beyond.
