Kashmiri students being harassed across India after Pahalgam incident

Monitoring Desk

ISLAMABAD: In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in the Pahalgam district of Indian occupied Kashmir, Kashmiri students are facing severe harassment and violence in several Indian states.

According to international media reports, Nasir Khuehami, the convener of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, revealed that Kashmiri students in states such as Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh are being forcibly evicted from their apartments and hostels.

He stated that they are being labeled as terrorists and threatened with serious consequences if they refuse to leave.

Khuehami further reported that in a university in Himachal Pradesh, hostel doors were broken down and Kashmiri students were physically assaulted. He described it as a systematic campaign of hate targeting individuals based on their regional and religious identity.

It is worth noting that three days ago, a tragic shooting at a tourist site in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 people and injured dozens. Since then, hostility and prejudice against Kashmiris across India have intensified.

Human rights organizations have expressed deep concern over the situation, urging the government to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students and to take immediate action against these hate-driven incidents.
