MUZAFFARABAD: People here as well as on the other side of Kashmir illegally occupied by India on Friday observed India’s so-called Republic Day on January 26th as a black day and condemned its atrocities and illegal occupation of their motherland.
Rallies and protests were held in Muzaffarabad and other areas of Kashmir with the participants chanting slogans demanding an end to the Indian occupation. They also reminded the international community of its commitment to ensure the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and India’s denial of the right for over seven decades.
The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against India. One of the banners said, “India is not a democratic but a terrorist country.”
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other pro-freedom organizations of Kashmir had given the call for observing Friday as black day.
APHC leaders in their statements in Srinagar said India had no right to celebrate its Republic Day in Jammu and Kashmir as it had illegally occupied the territory.
A large number of people gathered at Burhan Wani Shaheed Chowk in Muzaffarabad where speakers shed light on the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris and India’s atrocities in the occupied Kashmir. Later, the participants took out a rally and chanted slogans against the Indian occupation and calling upon the UN to implement its resolutions to give the right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir.
They also appealed to the international community to pressure India to grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
Meanwhile, APHC-Azad Kashmir chapter held a protest rally in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. The participants chanted slogans and asked India to leave the occupied valley. They demanded that hundreds of people arrested from kashmir and languishing in Indian jails should be set free.
Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora also held a a peaceful protest demonstration front of the Indian embassy in Brussels to mark India’s Republic Day as a black day.
