MUZAFFARABAD: Kashmiris around the world, including both sides of the Line of Control, will observe Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day on Saturday to reaffirm their historic and political support for Kashmir’s union with Pakistan.
To mark the occasion, various programmes have been organized in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and in countries with significant Kashmiri diaspora.
A special ceremony will be held at the Khurshed National Library in Muzaffarabad, where government officials, political leaders, members of the All Parties Conference, and citizens from all walks of life are expected to participate.
The day commemorates the historic resolution passed on July 19, 1947, in Srinagar, where Kashmiri representatives unanimously decided to accede to Pakistan, even before the partition of British India was fully implemented.
Speakers at various events are expected to highlight the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and call upon the international community to fulfill its responsibility under UN Security Council resolutions.
Posters, banners, and social media campaigns have also been launched to raise awareness about the significance of the day and to express solidarity with Kashmiris living under occupation.
