KARACHI: K-Electric has closed the submission window for its Energy Progress & Innovation Challenge (EPIC) 2025, receiving over 250 entries from across Pakistan. The challenge invited participants from academia, startups, researchers, and entrepreneurs to submit innovative solutions for the country’s energy sector.
Launched in March, EPIC 2025 aimed to address key power sector challenges and offered both predefined themes and opportunities for open innovation. Submissions covered areas including energy theft detection, AI-based demand forecasting, smart monitoring of transmission lines, underground cable health indexing, and more.
The company reported strong participation, with entries coming from a wide range of fields and locations. According to K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi, the response demonstrates the potential of local innovators to contribute to the future of energy in Pakistan. Chief Distribution & Marcomms Officer Sadia Dada added that EPIC is part of the company’s broader effort to support a more efficient and sustainable power system.
The next stage of the challenge will include evaluation and mentoring, followed by finalist presentations to a panel of experts.
The top three participants will receive a total of PKR 3 million in cash prizes, along with the chance to collaborate with K-Electric on project implementation.
