Kidnapping of SHO an insult to state writ, says caretaker CM

Six police personnel including SHO of Shikarpur couldn't be recovered after many days

KARACHI: Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh retired Justice Maqbool Baqar on Friday said that the kidnapping of the station house officer (SH) of Shikarpur along with his five subordinates was an insult with the state.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting held to review law and order situation in the province.

A few days ago, dacoits in the kitchen area of Shikarpur in Sindh kidnapped the SHO along with his subordinate officials when they were on patrolling.

The caretaker chief minister at the meeting seemed perturbed over the situation and government inability to rein in on the armed men who were involved not only in looting and killing local people but also in kidnapping police personnel.

Briefing the meeting, Inspector General of Police Riffat Mukhtar said that there were 621 police stations in the province and 272 of them were functioning in own buildings, three were in rented buildings while the rest were set up in state buildings.

The caretaker chief minister said all the police stations should be made foolproof as regard to security with provision of needed security.

The chief minister also said that the system of mobile patrolling should be improved and life insurance should be introduced for the police personnel.
