HYDERABAD: The flood situation at the Kotri Barrage on the Indus River remains critical, with rising water flows continuing to affect low-lying areas.

Water inflow into the Kotri Barrage has further increased, reaching 407,000 cusecs.

Due to rapidly rising floodwaters in the Indus, villages in the Thatta district are being submerged. In Thatta, water levels in low-lying villages such as Yar Muhammad and Manchar have risen by several feet, prompting residents to evacuate towards nearby embankments. Many people remain in the area awaiting government assistance.

A similar flood situation is reported near Nawabshah, where several villages in low-lying areas have gone underwater, and the relocation of residents is ongoing.

In Matiari, low-lying areas have also been submerged due to continuous increases in water flow. Residents of Hala villages are using boats to relocate themselves to safer locations.

Meanwhile, water flows at Guddu and Sukkur barrages are gradually decreasing.

In Punjab, river levels have mostly returned to normal, though several districts remain affected by floodwaters. In Jalalpur Pirwala, five bodies were recovered after floodwaters receded. In Kabirwala, water from the Ravi and Chenab rivers has started to withdraw from populated areas.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division in Lahore, after several weeks, water flow in the Sutlej River has decreased, and flows at Ganda Singh Wala and Head Suleimanki have returned to normal. Only low-level flooding remains at Head Islam, but water levels there are also gradually dropping.
