PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has approved a resolution rejecting Pakistan’s participation in the newly-formed Board of Peace initiated by the United States and Israel.

The resolution, presented by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam Afridi, strongly criticizes the involvement of Pakistan in the Board of Peace, deeming it a violation of the United Nations Security Council’s stance on the Palestinian issue.

The resolution categorically opposes Pakistan’s inclusion in a peace initiative established by U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli leaders, claiming it contradicts Pakistan’s long-standing foreign policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The resolution emphasizes that the creation of the Board of Peace undermines the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly by marginalizing Gaza’s leadership and undermining the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

According to the resolution, the formation of the board, which seeks to bolster Israeli interests, is seen as part of a larger conspiracy to strengthen Israel’s territorial ambitions in the region. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government reiterated its principled stance that Israel will never be recognized by Pakistan.

The resolution also calls on the federal government to continue its unwavering support for the sovereignty of Palestine and Gaza, and to adopt a firm stance against Israeli aggressions. It demands that the Pakistani leadership engage on this issue with a clear and principled position, opposing any initiative that compromises the rights of the Palestinian people.
