KP chief minister says illegal foreigners should leave by Oct 31

Azam Khan says govt will facilitate repatriation of illegal immigrants within the deadline

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has asked all foreign nationals illegally living in the KP province to voluntarily return to their countries before the 31st of this month.

He said the government will extend its all-out support and facilitate them with regard to their repatriation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the caretaker chief minister said that the district administrations and other relevant quarters had already been directed to facilitate the repatriation process within the stipulated time frame.

He said the government wants a dignified repatriation of all such foreigners to their homelands.

It may be mentioned here that the federal government has set the deadline of November 1 for all illegal aliens to leave Pakistan. After the expiry of the deadline, the illegal foreigners will be deported.

Since the announcement of the deadline, a large number of Afghan families have returned to their country. A majority of the illegal foreigners in Pakistan are the Afghan nationals.

Most of these illegal Afghans are those who crossed over to Pakistan following the takeover of Kabul by Taliban two years back.
