ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has strongly condemned the federal government’s response to the ongoing protests organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) across the country.

In a statement, Afridi emphasized that these protests are being carried out peacefully by the people, who are raising their voices for their present and future. He pointed out that despite clear instructions from the Supreme Court, the federal government has failed to comply, which he deemed “incomprehensible.”

Afridi accused both the federal and Punjab governments of attempting to sabotage the peaceful protests by planting their own elements in the crowds, potentially triggering violence similar to the tragic events of May 9. However, he assured that PTI workers have remained peaceful throughout the demonstrations, which have been ongoing for two days without any untoward incidents. This, according to Afridi, proves that PTI supporters are committed to a peaceful struggle.

A major concern raised by the Chief Minister was the federal government’s delay in ensuring proper medical treatment for PTI chairman, Imran Khan, despite clear orders from the Supreme Court. Afridi stressed that Khan’s health is a basic human right and should not be subject to political delay. He warned that continued non-compliance with judicial orders could further destabilize the country, and the government would be held responsible for any consequences.

The Chief Minister further reiterated that PTI’s protests are constitutional, legal, and peaceful, urging party workers to resist any attempts to provoke disorder. He also criticized the government’s strategy of creating panic, stating that it could have dangerous implications. Afridi concluded by warning that the political cost of the government’s actions would be severe, and immediate compliance with the court’s orders was essential for national stability.
