PESHAWAR: KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi had said the provincial government will not support any measures that increase fuel prices for the public.
He made the remarks during a meeting with federal finance and petroleum ministers, reviewing potential disruptions in petroleum supply due to tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Afridi said that governments should provide relief to citizens during crises instead of passing costs onto them. He urged fiscal restraint, reduction of non-essential spending, and use of available resources for targeted subsidies to protect people from inflation and rising living costs.
The Chief Minister stated that while the government will support measures aimed at easing the public’s economic burden, it will oppose any proposals that further stress citizens.
