PESHAWAR: Audit authorities have uncovered serious financial irregularities in a government department’s spending, including spending Rs370m on helicopter repairs & spare parts.

According to the audit report, officials sent two letters to the department requesting an explanation, but received no response.

The audit report described the department’s silence and lack of transparency as a case of grave mismanagement and recommended an immediate investigation.

Authorities are also considering referring the matter to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) or other investigative agencies.

According to the report, during the fiscal year 2023–24, Rs370 million was spent on helicopter repairs and spare parts, with major violations of procurement rules. These expenses were made under the Establishment and Administration Department, where proper tendering procedures were reportedly ignored.
