PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakthunkhwa government has decided to approach the federal government to review its decision of proscribing Pashtoon Tahaffuz Movement (PTM).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the provincial assembly’s full house committee chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The meeting was attended by the speaker and deputy speaker of the assembly, opposition leader and other members.
The federal government last year outlawed the PTM led by Manzoor Pashteen alleging that it was working against the interests of Pakistan at the behest of foreign powers.
The Khyber Pakthunkhwa government is of the view that the ban was not justified and the federal government should review its decision. In this regard, the KP government will formally approach the federal government to reconsider it.
The meeting also decided to form a subcommittee to discuss the demands of the grand Jirga. The committee will be represented by all political parties having representatives in the assembly. The committee will present its report to the full house committee.
It was also decided in the meeting that issues of the province having links with the Centre will be taken up with the federal government for early resolution. The issue of the ban on the PTM will be specially taken up for a revision.
