SRINAGAR: In the Kulgam district of occupied Kashmir, a 12-day-long Indian military operation reportedly ended in failure, leaving several soldiers injured and struggling for survival.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, Indian forces faced severe hardships during the operation, with reports claiming that soldiers went without food and water for days, reportedly resorting to eating dirt.
The operation became the longest recent confrontation between Indian forces and Kashmiri resistance fighters. Over the 12-day period, nine Indian soldiers were reportedly killed, while helicopters and drones failed to achieve their objectives. Fourteen soldiers, including a colonel, were reported seriously wounded.
After nearly two weeks, Indian forces allegedly retreated without achieving their objectives. One soldier reportedly sent a final message describing the dire conditions, stating they had survived by eating dirt after going without food for five days.
Citing Indian security sources, the Kashmir News Observer reported that resistance fighters successfully broke the siege and fled toward forested areas.
Separately, the Hurriyat Conference described the Kulgam operation as “one0 of the most significant recent failures of the Indian military,” accusing the Modi government of conducting operations to cover up political setbacks.
