Kuwait lifts visa ban for Pakistanis after 19 years

Pakistani citizens can now apply for various types of visas through an online platform, says official.

KUWAIT CITY: In a major development, Kuwait has officially lifted its 19-year-long visa ban on Pakistani citizens, opening doors to employment, tourism, business and family reunification.

According to Mustafa Malik, the focal person at Pakistan’s Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, Kuwait has resumed the issuance of work, family visit, tourist and commercial visas for Pakistanis. “This marks the beginning of a new era in Pakistan-Kuwait relations,” he stated.

Mr Malik credited both the Kuwaiti government and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis for their role in this breakthrough. He noted that the move will significantly benefit skilled Pakistani workers, allowing them to contribute to Pakistan’s economy through valuable foreign exchange.

“The Kuwaiti Dinar is the world’s strongest currency, currently valued at approximately 914 Pakistani rupees,” he added.

Under the new policy, Pakistani citizens can now apply for various types of visas through an online platform. The processing time for visa applications is expected to range from just one minute to 24 hours, making the procedure highly efficient.

Thousands of Pakistanis are expected to benefit from this policy shift, gaining opportunities in employment, trade, and tourism across Kuwait.
