Lahore Tops Global Air Pollution Rankings

LAHORE: The capital city of Punjab province has once again ranked first among the world’s most polluted cities, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 383, according to recent air quality data.

Several areas of the city reported extremely hazardous pollution levels. Barki Road recorded an AQI of 900, while Cantt stood at 635 and Chaman Park at 606. Other highly affected areas include Gulberg II with an AQI of 497, DHA Phase 5 at 483, and Askari 10 at 481.

Meanwhile, DHA Phase 6 recorded an AQI of 355, Model Town A Block stood at 276, Bedian Road at 253, and Iqbal Town at 251.

Environmental experts have warned that prolonged exposure to such hazardous air quality poses serious health risks, particularly for children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or heart conditions.

Citizens have been advised to limit outdoor activities, use protective masks, and follow health guidelines until air quality improves.

Authorities have yet to announce additional emergency measures as smog continues to affect daily life in the provincial capital.
