Law ministry allows trial of Imran in Adiala jail
Notification issued on the request of special court judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.
ISLAMABAD: The ministry of law and justice on Tuesday allowed the trial of former prime minister Imran Khan inside the Adiala jail in the cipher case registered against him.
The law ministry issued a notification in this regard stating that it had no objections on the trial of the jailed PTI chairman inside the jail.
The permission was granted on a written request of the Special Court judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.
Imran and PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi were arrested in the cipher case. The special court has been constituted to hear cases registered under the Official Secrets Act.
Imran was earlier kept in the district jail of Attock in the Toshakhana case when he was arrested on Aug 5. Later, the sentence in the case was suspended but he is being kept in the jail in the cipher case.
The PTI chief was last week shifted from Attock to the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi on the direction of the Islamabad High Court.
