Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Among Five Killed in Plane Crash

NEW DELHI: A chartered aircraft crashed during an attempted landing in India’s western state of Maharashtra on Wednesday, killing all five people on board, including the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, according to Indian media reports.

The incident occurred in the Baramati area of Pune district. Reports said the aircraft was carrying Ajit Pawar, two of his associates, and two crew members at the time of the crash.

Initial information indicates that there were no survivors. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the reasons behind the crash landing and to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.
