Maulana Fazal Condemns Police Action at National Press Club

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has strongly condemned the recent police action at the National Press Club in Islamabad, expressing unwavering solidarity with the journalist community.

During his visit to the Press Club to show support for journalists, Maulana Fazlur Rehman denounced what he described as “an act of terrorism within the Press Club,” criticizing the police for storming the premises, using excessive force, and physically assaulting journalists.

“May Allah protect Pakistan. There must be rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution in this country,” he stated. “Journalists are standing for the truth, and in doing so, they have become victims of state brutality. The police, through their actions, have violated the sanctity of the Constitution.”

He stressed that upholding the rule of law and constitutional supremacy is essential for the country’s stability and democratic order. He added that the ongoing protest by journalists is entirely justified and rooted in their struggle for fundamental rights.

On this occasion, senior journalist leader Afzal Butt also addressed the gathering. He commended Maulana Fazlur Rehman for consistently standing for justice and fairness, emphasizing that the JUI-F leader has always supported the cause of press freedom and is now firmly standing with journalists in their time of need.
