KARACHI: A key operative of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been arrested by intelligence wing of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Karachi.
According to CTD officials, the suspect Khalil-ur-Rehman belongs to the Noor Waliullah group of the terror outfit, and had made a video of the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnaj and other key areas and sent them to Afghanistan besides sharing on social media and threatened that, “We have come to Karachi.”
Officials said the suspect had received training in terrorism in Afghanistan. He was arrested with the help of human intelligence and CCTV footage.
They said that the suspect had made videos of Quaid-e-Azam’s shrine and different areas of Karachi on the orders of his commander Misbah in December last year.
According to CTD officials, the arrested suspect came to Karachi with training from Afghanistan and worked at various hotels. They said that the suspect took a job in a private security company and was performing duty at a bungalow in Defence. He was also involved wall chalking at night in connection with the banned TTP.
