DOHA: A prominent political and security analyst has claimed that a large number of Indian nationals are involved in espionage activities for Israel inside Iraq.
According to media reports, Muhannad Saloumi, an assistant professor in the Security Studies Program at Doha University and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Strategic Studies, made the remarks while speaking at a private event in Qatar.
Saloumi alleged that approximately 1.5 million Indian citizens are engaged in spying activities on behalf of Israel in Iraq. He claimed that these individuals have infiltrated sensitive sectors, including the healthcare system and even the Iraqi military.
He further alleged that espionage activities extend to lower-level positions, stating that even cleaning staff within institutions are involved in gathering intelligence for Israel.
Saloumi explained that such infiltration has allegedly been possible because Israel is aware that Iraq considers India a friendly country, making Indian nationals less likely to attract suspicion. He also claimed that India is cooperating in these activities to gain access to weapons.
Additionally, Saloumi stated that Israel has made multiple attempts to gain strategic superiority over Pakistan but has failed to achieve its objectives.
