Missing Persons Issue Permanently Resolved, Claims CM Bugti

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has claimed that the long-standing issue of missing persons in the province has been permanently resolved.

He said that improved governance and merit-based policies are key to addressing public grievances and strengthening trust between the state and the people.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, the chief minister said that only through good governance and merit can the sense of deprivation among the people of Balochistan be addressed and they be reconnected with the state.

Bugti announced that the Balochistan cabinet has approved the creation of two new divisions, Pishin and Koh-e-Suleman, as part of broader administrative reforms aimed at improving governance. He added that work is also underway to establish additional divisions and districts across the province.

Referring to the issue of missing persons, the chief minister said that in the past, several political actors exploited the matter for political gain, blamed the state, and used it as a tool to secure votes. “For the first time, we have introduced a concrete solution to this issue,” he said.

Bugti further stated that law enforcement agencies now operate under a clear legal framework for the interrogation of suspects, adding that unfounded allegations of enforced disappearances against the state would no longer be justified.

The chief minister also announced a major initiative to ensure merit and transparency in the public sector. He said the provincial government is set to begin a comprehensive verification process of academic degrees held by government employees.

Legal action, including the registration of FIRs, will be taken against individuals found holding fake degrees. The verification process will initially begin in Dera Bugti and Naseerabad districts.
