ISLAMABAD: The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a detailed report on the impact of monsoon rains and floods in Pakistan, revealing a death toll of 819 and over 1,100 injuries across the country.
According to the report, 1,111 individuals were injured due to heavy rainfall and flooding. The casualties include 493 men, 123 women, and 203 children, while 546 men and 295 women are among the injured.
The report also highlights widespread destruction to property, with a total of 8,658 houses damaged. Out of these, 2,070 homes were completely destroyed, and 6,588 houses suffered partial damage.
In addition to residential damage, the flooding impacted healthcare infrastructure. The WHO stated that 104 health facilities were affected during the recent monsoon spells, further straining emergency response efforts in flood-hit areas.
The organization has expressed concern over the humanitarian situation and the growing need for health services, shelter, clean water, and food supplies in the affected regions.
