MOSCOW: Pakistan and Russia have agreed to boost collaboration across a wide range of sectors and enhance coordination at major global platforms, following a high-level meeting between senior officials of the two countries in Moscow.
The understanding was reached during talks between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, held soon after the conclusion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meetings.
During the meeting, both sides conducted a detailed review of the full breadth of Pakistan-Russia relations, expressing a shared commitment to deepening ties.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in political, economic, energy, connectivity, agricultural, industrial, educational, and people-to-people areas through well-established institutional mechanisms.
Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk, recalling his recent visits to Pakistan, highlighted the country’s strategic potential as a regional transit and connectivity hub, especially within the broader Eurasian region.
Both leaders also exchanged perspectives on key regional and global developments, agreeing to maintain close engagement on issues of mutual interest within multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the SCO.
