MoU Signed for Digitization of Hajj Operations by 2027

ISLAMABAD: The  Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Information Technology of Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the digitization of Hajj services.

Under this initiative, all stages of the Hajj process, from application submission to return, will be fully digitized by 2027.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Mohammad Yousaf, emphasized that the Prime Minister had specifically instructed to make the entire Hajj process seamless and transparent for the pilgrims.

He added that Saudi Arabia has already digitized all of its Hajj operations, and Pakistan’s move will align with international standards, providing pilgrims with better facilities and services.

State Minister for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, stated that this agreement between the two ministries will ensure that every aspect of the Hajj process, from applications to final procedures, is conducted digitally. The new system will enhance efficiency, reduce human errors, and eliminate delays in processing.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Khalid Rafiq, Director General of the National Information Technology Board (NITB), and Joint Secretary Hajj, Mohammad Bakhsh Sanghi.
