Multan Sultans Defeat Rawalpindi by 6 Wickets in PSL Clash
KARACHI: Multan Sultans defeated Rawalpindi by six wickets in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, securing two important points and moving to second place on the points table.
In the match played in Karachi, Rawalpindi won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 166 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Daryl Mitchell remained unbeaten with 58 runs, while Sam Billings scored 29 and captain Mohammad Rizwan contributed 26 runs.
In response, Multan Sultans chased the target comfortably in 18.4 overs, losing 4 wickets. Steve Smith played a key role with a solid 56-run innings, while Ashton Turner remained not out on 37 runs.
With this victory, Multan Sultans earned two crucial points and climbed to second position on the table. Rawalpindi, meanwhile, suffered their eighth consecutive defeat in the tournament.
Despite the loss, captain Mohammad Rizwan acknowledged the team’s poor performance, while Kiwi cricketer Cole McConchie described PSL as a high-quality league and called playing in it an honour.
