ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and seven other Muslim countries have strongly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which have resulted in the deaths and injuries of over a thousand Palestinians.
The condemnation was issued through a joint statement by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the UAE.
In the statement released on Sunday, the foreign ministers expressed grave concern that Israel’s actions risk further escalating tensions in the region. They stated that these violations undermine efforts to restore calm and stability in Gaza, complicating the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
The foreign ministers viewed these repeated violations as a direct threat to the ongoing political process aimed at transitioning the Gaza Strip to a more stable phase. They emphasized the need for full commitment to ensuring the success of President Trump’s peace plan and advancing the peace process in the region.
The ministers also called on all parties involved to exercise the utmost restraint during this critical period, stressing the importance of upholding the ceasefire. They urged all sides to refrain from actions that could derail the peace efforts and to create favorable conditions for the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.
Additionally, the statement reiterated the call for a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood, in accordance with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The ministers also reaffirmed their support for the Arab peace initiative as the framework for achieving a fair and durable peace in the region.
