RAWALPINDI: PTI founder and and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that on May 9, his party activists had used petrol bombs during the Zaman Park operation Lahore.
Talking to journalists at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, Imran Khan said that the petrol bombs were used in his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, not anywhere outside it.
When told that there were video clips showing petrol bombs being thrown on sensitive installations by office-bearers of his party, Imran Khan said that if an office-bearer of his party was found involved in throwing petrol bombs on any building, they must be punished in accordance with the law. He said in such a case, he would not only apologize but would also sack such PTI leaders or office-bearers from the party.
In reply to another question from journalists, the former Prime Minister said that one must watch video clips to know who were involved in the May 9 violence. He also said that the ISPR had claimed that mafia were using money to run campaigns against Pakistan.
Addressing the ISPR, he said that in the past you told us about the corruption stories of Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, but later you imposed these corrupt politicians on the people of Pakistan by rigging the Feb 8th general elections.
Imran Khan said that the army was a national institution and it was the duty of the nation to protect it. He said that the current situation in Pakistan was worse compared to the one in Bangladesh where the prime minister has resigned and fled the country after violent protests by students.
The former Prime Minister predicted that something big was going to happen in Pakistan. He said for the sake of the country, he was ready for negotiations, but if no one was ready for it, he would also keep mum. He claimed that on May 9th, 16 workers of his party were killed in different parts of the country.
