ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has passed the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill 2024 by a majority vote. The bill was presented by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and was approved despite opposition protests.
In addition to the income tax legislation, the Assembly also approved the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill, presented by Farah Naz. Amendments to clauses 3, 4, and 6 of the bill, proposed by Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, were also adopted.
The House further passed the Anti-Dumping Duties (Amendment) Bill by a majority vote, aimed at strengthening measures against unfair trade practices.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar presented the Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill 2025, which was subsequently approved by the Assembly.
Other private members’ bills also received approval, including the Trade Organizations (Amendment) Bill and the Islamabad Prohibition of Child Marriages Bill 2024.
The legislative session marks a significant step in the government’s ongoing reform agenda across taxation, civil service, education, and social welfare sectors.
