ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports, where he formally inaugurated the advanced monitoring system “Shukra” to oversee passport applications, printing, and overall departmental performance.
During the visit, a 24/7 operational monitoring room and call center were also launched. Following the minister’s directives, the Emergency Travel Document system has been fully digitized.
Minister Naqvi received a detailed briefing on the Secure Hybrid Intelligence for Knowledge-Based Response Analytics (Shukra) system, which allows daily operations and staff performance to be monitored and evaluated via a digital integrated dashboard.
Praising the DG Immigration & Passports and his team, Naqvi said the Pakistan passport system has now been upgraded to meet global standards. He added that the new system enables real-time monitoring of passport applications and deliveries both in Pakistan and internationally, with oversight at every stage from application to issuance.
“The government aims to provide citizens with fast, secure, and transparent services, and the new monitoring system will significantly enhance the overall efficiency of the Passport Department,” he noted.
According to the Interior Minister, security features of Pakistani passports have been upgraded to ICAO standards, and the use of modern automatic German machines has increased departmental capacity while eliminating human intervention in passport printing.
