ISLAMABAD: The federal government has finalized a comprehensive plan to implement a nationwide smart lockdown, with an official announcement expected later today.
According to the proposed draft, the plan outlines significant adjustments to working hours across public and private sectors, educational institutions, and commercial activities.
It also introduces strict measures aimed at conserving energy and fuel, reflecting growing concerns over resource management and sustainability.
Under the proposed framework, markets and shopping centers will be required to close by 9:30 PM. Marriage halls and event venues will be allowed to operate only until 10:00 PM, with a one-dish policy in place and a maximum attendance limit of 200 guests.
The proposal further introduces a hybrid working model for an initial period of one month. Government offices operating five days a week will adopt a schedule of three days in-office and two days of remote work, while service-sector offices working six days a week will follow a four-days in-office and two-days remote work structure.
In addition, a 50 percent staff rotation system will be implemented to reduce daily commuting, ease traffic congestion, and ensure more efficient use of resources.
The overall objective of the plan is to strike a careful balance between maintaining economic activity and implementing practical measures for resource conservation and effective public management.
Further details are expected to be clarified once the government makes its formal announcement.
