Nawaz is back home; says economic development must be top priority
PML-N workers and supporters on way to Lahore as ex-PM will address public gathering today.
ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and supreme leader of PML-N Nawaz Sharif landed at Islamabad International Airport (IIA) at about 1:30 pm on a special chartered flight from Dubai on Saturday.
Mr Sharif stayed at the State Lounge for a while where a team of his lawyers was present. They took signature of the former prime minister on some legal documents.
The PML-N chief then moved back to the aircraft which would take him to Lahore.
Earlier, party workers had gathered at the Dubai airport who chanted slogans when Mr Sharif reached there to board the plane along with 150 leaders, workers and media persons.
When asked about the forthcoming general elections in Pakistan, he said a date for the polls could be fixed and announced by the election commission.
He seemed not worried about the possibility of further delaying the elections.
The PML-N chief said the first priority should always be the improvement of the socioeconomic condition.
He however said there is no reason for disillusionment as the nation possesses the capacity to fix its problems. He emphasized the need for Pakistan to become self-reliant, asserting the importance of standing on its own feet.
Meanwhile, party supporters and workers were moving to Lahore from different parts of the country as Mr Sharif is scheduled to address a public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Saturday evening.
