New caretaker interior minister takes charge

Appointment made over a month after resignation of Sarfraz Bugti.

ISLAMABAD: Over a month after the resignation of Sarfraz Bugti, the caretaker government appointed Ejaz Gohar as the caretaker interior minister on Wednesday.

Ejaz Gohar today took charge of his office just a fortnight before the general elections after which an elected government will take over. 

Caretaker interior minister Sarfraz Bugti had tendered his resignation on November 16. He resigned from the office to take part in the forthcoming general elections. Later, Bugti announced the PPP. 

As the general elections are due on February 8, foolproof security arrangements are being made across the country.

In the absence of a minister, concerns were being expressed about the vacant key post. 

The federal government has already approved the deployment of 277,000 army troops along eith Rangers for security across the country.
